Start Up Of The Year Winners

I am a little late in writing this with the madness of Christmas and a very busy December but ... we only went and won! We were thrilled and honoured to have been shortlisted as finalists but to have gone on to win the Business Start up of the Year award at Doncaster Chamber’s annual business awards is just amazing. We had a fantastic evening, celebrating with family and friends, which took place on 1 st December 2022 at Doncaster Racecourse. We had such a great night and it was a privilege to be in the same room as so many amazing local businesses. I am so proud of everything we have achieved over the last 2 years and would like to thank our amazing team their help and support. Congratulations to all of the award finalists and thank you Doncaster Chamber for a fantastic evening.

Start Up Of The Year Finalists

We are over the moon to have been nominated as finalists for the Business Start-up of the Year award as part of Doncaster Chamber’s Business Awards 2022. Skill Step Group Ltd has been shortlisted as finalists by the award sponsors, Hentons, and Doncaster Chamber following an entry we submitted in July 2022. As part of our entry we were scored on a number of questions about our business. The application process was a great opportunity for me to reflect on what we have achieved over the last couple of years and also to look ahead on our vision and what we want to achieve next.

One Year On

It has been a whole year since we got the keys to our first ever training centre on South Parade in Doncaster. I remember the day like it was yesterday. Nervous, excited and a little overwhelmed. Although a lot of work had been put into the business up until this point this for me was the start of Skill Step Training. This meant that we were now a fully fledged business. This meant we could now start delivering training. This also meant the pressure was now fully on as we now had bills to pay!

First Aid

We just love delivering First Aid Training. Over the past couple of weeks we have welcomed 25 learners into our centre (not all at once of course!) to help them learn how to be a First Aider, or Emergency First Aider, in their workplace. Due to COVID-19 we are delivering our courses in groups of no more than 5 to ensure that social distancing guidelines can be adhered to.

Mens Health Week

As we're nearing the end of Men's Health Week, we would like to make a post to share our thoughts and tell you a little bit about what this week is all about. Men's Health Week is in place to emphasise the importance of men's mental health, physical health, good diet and regular doctor visits.

Covid 19

Here at Skill Step Training we have several measures in place to ensure the safety of our staff, visitors a. We would like to give you an insight into what procedures we have in place to reassure anyone who is wanting to take part in a training course here with us.

Opening Event

Wednesday 14th October 2020 saw the official Grand Opening of Skill Step Training. Our training centre was looking beautiful and we were very excited to finally welcome partners, stakeholder and friends to mark the start of our journey. We had a gorgeous flower display made by Little Green Flower Pot, merchandise and leaflets by RH Printing and branding by Talk to Media. All Doncaster companies who all took the time to get to know us and our vision for what we wanted to be achieved. Our first visitors for the day were Councillor Bill Mordue (Cabinet member for Business, Skills and Economic Development) Sharon Finch (HR Business Consultant at Business Doncaster) and Pat McHale (Associate Director) and Andy Kitchen (Apprenticeship Manager) from ISS Labour.
