First Aid
We just love delivering First Aid Training. Over the past couple of weeks we have welcomed 25 learners into our centre (not all at once of course!) to help them learn how to be a First Aider, or Emergency First Aider, in their workplace. Due to COVID-19 we are delivering our courses in groups of no more than 5 to ensure that social distancing guidelines can be adhered to.
First Aid is such as important skill, both in work and personally, and we are very honoured to be playing our part in equipping our learners with the knowledge to enable them to be able to provide First Aid as/when they may need to. Let’s hope they do not need to but if the situation arises, the course they have done with Skill Step Training could save lives. That is pretty amazing.
Every single person who has attended our training centre for a First Aid course achieved their L3 qualification as our Tutors ensure that they fully understand each topic and are very experienced, knowledgeable and passionate about First Aid. The evaluations from the learners told us that;
- 100% of learners would recommend the course to a friend/colleague
- 100% of learners rated their overall experience as good or very good
- 100% of learners rates their Tutor’s knowledge as very good
We also got some lovely feedback which just makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside...
Who doesn't love getting great feedback?
So, what does a First Aid at Work course look like with Skill Step Training? We deliver the L3 Award, which is accredited by Highfield Qualifications, with a mixture of e-learning and face- to-face training. What traditionally would be 3 days in the classroom can now be 1 day (around 4-6 hours) of e-learning and 2 days in the classroom. The e-learning module is very interactive with regular questioning throughout to check understanding.
The e-learning covers all of the knowledge including:
- Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider.
- Know how to provide first aid to a casualty who is in shock.
- Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with minor injuries.
In the classroom for the practical topics we cover:
- Be able to assess an incident.
- Be able to provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty.
- Be able to provide first aid to a casualty who is choking.
- Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with external bleeding.
We have also implemented a blended approach for the L3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work which includes 2 hours of e-learning and 4 hours practical in the classroom. Our clients seem to prefer the blended approach as it means less time they need to release their employees from the workplace and it also reduces cost as we (Skill Step Training) have less overheads.
We are already getting booked up for the first few months in 2021 and we can’t wait to support more people in developing valuable First Aid skills and knowledge.
