To deliver the basic training required to provide delegates with sufficient knowledge and hands-on practical skills for undertaking basic OLE construction activities safely and effectively under direction.

Access OLE Construction Sites 2 Overhead Lines Electrification Courses

The Access to Overhead Lines Electrification Constructions Sites 2 (OLEC-2) course gives delegates the ability to undertake basic Overhead Line Electrification (OLE) construction activities under direction in a safe manner. OLEC courses are mandatory for all wishing to work on the UK's rail networks Overhead Line equipment.

Learning Objectives

  • Explain, in basic terms, the functions of the main component parts of OLE systems.
  • Explain the requirements for working safely at all times, complying with health and safety and other relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Explain the limits of their own authority.
  • Demonstrate their ability to complete basic OLE construction activities using correct tools and equipment, under direction from competent personnel.
  • Demonstrate a basic ability to interpret renewal, installation and enhancement documentation for the components to be renewed or installed.
  • Explain recording, reporting and escalation procedures.
  • Explain the importance of producing accurate records of work undertaken.

Pre-Requisites (detailed)

  • Meet the medical requirements of Network Rail Standard NR/L2/OHS/00124 Competence Specific Fitness Medical Requirements.
  • Delegate must be at least 18 years old
  • Meet the requirements of Network Rail Standard NR/L1/OHS/051 (Drugs & Alcohol). A drugs and alcohol test must have been carried out no more than 12 months prior to attending training event.
  • Delegate must hold a valid Sentinel Track Safety Card and meet the requirements of NR/L2/CTM/021 - Competence and Training in Track Safety.
  • Delegate must have Personal Track Safety (PTS) competence.
  • Delegates must have current Access OLE Construction Sites 1 (OLEC1) competence.
