Access OLE Construction (OLEC3) Sites 3

To develop the candidates ability to carry out construction, renewal, enhancement, and modification of OLE in accordance with design drawings and specifications in a safe manor whilst working on OLE construction sites.

Access OLE Construction Sites 3 Overhead Lines Electrification Courses

The Access to Overhead Lines Electrification Constructions Sites 2 (OLEC-2) course gives delegates the ability to construct, renew, enhance and modify Overhead Line Electrification (OLE) in accordance with design drawings and specifications. OLEC courses are mandatory for all wishing to work on the UK's rail networks Overhead Line equipment.

Learning Objectives

  • Explain the operating principles of both the classic and autotransformer OLE systems.
  • Describe/explain the functions of the main component parts of the OLE systems.
  • Identify and explain the hazards associated with OLE construction activities.
  • Explain the requirements for working safely at all times in compliance with health and safety and other relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Explain the limits of their own authority.
  • Explain the management and quality control requirements for OLE construction materials.
  • Demonstrate an ability to correctly read and interpret design drawings used in OLE construction.
  • Demonstrate an ability to complete selected OLE construction activities in accordance with design drawings, work instructions and specifications.
  • Explain recording, reporting and escalation procedures.
  • Explain the quality assurance requirements for their work.

Pre-Requisites (detailed)

  • Delegate must be at least 18 years old
  • Meet the medical requirements of Network Rail Standard NR/L2/OHS/00124 Competence Specific Fitness Medical Requirements.
  • Meet the requirements of Network Rail Standard NR/L1/OHS/051 (Drugs & Alcohol). A drugs and alcohol test must have been carried out no more than 12 months prior to attending training event.
  • Delegate must hold a valid Sentinel Track Safety Card and meet the requirements of NR/L2/CTM/021 - Competence and Training in Track Safety.
  • Delegate must have Personal Track Safety (PTS) competence.
  • Delegates must have current Access OLE Construction Sites 1 (OLEC1) competence.
  • Delegates must have current Access OLE Construction Sites 2 (OLEC2) competence.
