Crane Controller Attachment - (CCAPL) Powered Lifting

This course is designed to train persons who are responsible for undertaking Crane Controller Attachment Group 3 Powered Lifting duties on Network Rail Infrastructure. The aim of this course is to provide delegates with the skills and underpinning knowledge required to undertake their duties in line with Crane Controller Attachment Group 3 Powered Lifting.

Crane Controller Attachment - Powered Lifting Rail Plant Courses

Candidates attending this course will obtain the skills and knowledge required to undertake Crane Controller attachment group 3 powered lifitng duties. Gaining insights about how powered lifting attachments are desinged to function, equipment calibration certificates, checks and operator competencies. Also learning the risks involved by using powered lifting attachments and how to correctly control the host machine.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe how powered lifting attachments covered by this course are designed to function under normal operating conditions.
  • Describe what equipment calibration certificates, checks and operator competencies are required to comply with the relevant rules and regulations.
  • Recognise when the use of powered lifting attachments may affect the stability of the machine.
  • Recognise and correctly control the risks imported by the powered lifting attachments within this course.
  • Control the movement of the host machine and attachment (while travelling and working) taking into account:
    • Condition of the track.
    • Cant.
    • Gradient.
    • Exclusion Zones.
    • Possession Arrangements.
  • Describe the information that needs to be passed between the CC and the machine operator and how it is recorded.

Pre-Requisites (detailed)

  • Delegate must be at least 18 years old
  • Delegate must hold a valid Sentinel Track Safety Card and meet the requirements of NR/L2/CTM/021 - Competence and Training in Track Safety.
  • Delegate must have Personal Track Safety (PTS) competence.
  • Meet the medical requirements of Network Rail Standard NR/L2/OHS/00124 Competence Specific Fitness Medical Requirements.
  • Meet the requirements of Network Rail Standard NR/L1/OHS/051 (Drugs & Alcohol). A drugs and alcohol test must have been carried out no more than 12 months prior to attending training event.
  • Delegate must have current On Track Plant Core (OTP-Core) Competence.
  • Delegate must have current compatible host Crane Controller competence.
