On Track Plant - (OTPOTA) Operate Trailer Attachement

The aim of this course is to provide the skills and knowledge required to operate the Trailer attachment including the hazards, risks specific to operation and communication protocols. How to operate the attachment safely and safe methods of shut down isolate and secure, actions to take in an emergency situations.

Candidates attending this course will obtain the skills and knowledge required to undertake On Track Plant - Operate Trailer Attachment duties.

Learning Objectives

  • Explain certification/documentation and competence requirements of self and others and attachments.
  • Describe hazards /risks specific to operation and appropriate controls.
  • Describe reporting lines and communications protocols.
  • Describe terminology and methods used to identify components and the operation of the attachment.
  • Describe and demonstrate pre-use / compatibility / attach (to host machine) / pre-operational requirements.
  • Describe defect monitoring associated with the operation of the attachment.
  • Demonstrate the safe use of the attachment.
  • Demonstrate the safe and correct methods of shut down isolate and secure (including detaching) attachments.
  • Describe actions that would be taken in emergency situations.

Pre-Requisites (detailed)

  • Delegate must be at least 18 years old
  • Delegate must hold a valid Sentinel Track Safety Card and meet the requirements of NR/L2/CTM/021 - Competence and Training in Track Safety.
  • Delegate must have Personal Track Safety (PTS) competence.
  • Meet the medical requirements of Network Rail Standard NR/L2/OHS/00124 Competence Specific Fitness Medical Requirements.
  • Meet the requirements of Network Rail Standard NR/L1/OHS/051 (Drugs & Alcohol). A drugs and alcohol test must have been carried out no more than 12 months prior to attending training event.
  • Delegate must have current On Track Plant Core (OTP-Core) Competence.
  • Delegate must have current compatible host Crane Controller competence.
